
Branding Infor's Expense Management app
Role: Branding/Product design
Infor® Expense Management is a flexible and configurable travel and entertainment expense management desktop application. The companion app enables the capture of expenses on-the-go. By providing a quick and easy method to record expenses, organize them, and submit them in a report for reimbursement, expense management would become simple and convenient.

The Challenge
Working collaboratively with the product team, we set out to brand this experience by reinforcing the “inbox zero” mentality thus rewarding proactivity in users' expense workflows.

The Solution
We started with a competitive audit of the most highly-rated expense management apps. Taking specific note their color palette choices. We saw a heavy theme of blues and greens which evokes a feeling of security.

The Visual Ecosystem
Taking cues from the competition we utilized a blue and green color palette to not only evoke a feeling of trust but also one of professionalism.

Helpful Minimalism
The app looks and feels simple, direct, and streamlined, with those ideals reflected in the visual direction, messaging, and architecture. To enable the quick actions that we want our users to take, the visual language focuses on the following tenants: simple forms and ease of comprehension

Ease of Comprehension
In addition to the simplicity of visual elements to aid in comprehension, the composition of UI elements must do the same.

The App Icon
This option combines the Xmark with a lowercase “m” to form the “XM” name of the app.

Splash Screen Animation
The gradient should come in at a -45 degree angle building up to the darkest tone as the copy appears going from 0-100%. The checkmark draws in from left to right as the background animates.

Onboarding
Given the streamlined functionality of this mobile app, the on-boarding instructions are a very important point of communication. A simple, succinct experience informs the user without burdening them.
